Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data

 

AVEK ry processes personal data for the following purposes:

• Maintaining the Membership Register: Managing the information of supporting members.

• Communication: Newsletters, event information, and other communications related to the organization’s activities.

Antisemitism Incident Reporting Register

Purpose of processing
​

Personal data is processed for the purpose of documenting, monitoring, analysing, and producing anonymised reports on experiences and phenomena related to antisemitism. The data supports AVEK ry’s public-interest activities and efforts to raise societal awareness of antisemitism in Finland.

AVEK ry does not act as a public authority, does not investigate crimes, and does not maintain criminal or suspect registers. Reports submitted through the form do not constitute official crime reports and do not replace contacting law enforcement authorities.

Categories of personal data processed

​

Based on the report, the following data may be processed:

  • reporter’s name and email address (optional)

  • description and date of the incident

  • type and context of the incident

  • possible attachments (e.g. screenshots)

  • information on whether the incident has been reported to authorities

​

Reports may contain special categories of personal data within the meaning of Article 9 of the GDPR, such as data revealing religious beliefs or experiences of discrimination or hate incidents.


In individual cases, free-text descriptions provided by the data subject may also include other special categories of personal data, such as data relating to gender identity, sexual orientation, or health, based solely on information voluntarily provided by the data subject.

Legal basis for processing

Processing is based on the data subject’s explicit and voluntary consent:

  • GDPR Article 6(1)(a)

  • GDPR Article 9(2)(a)

The data subject has the right to withdraw their consent at any time by contacting the data controller via email at contact@aveksuomi.fi.

Data retention period

​

Identifiable personal data is retained for a maximum of 24 months from the receipt of the report. After this period, the data is deleted or anonymised so that individual persons can no longer be identified.

Anonymised statistical and phenomenon-related data may be retained for a longer period.

Data disclosure

Data is not disclosed to third parties without the data subject’s consent, unless disclosure is required by law or by a lawful request from a public authority.
